Genealogy Program - Cobbler, Tailor, Trunkmaker: How My Grandpappies Made a Living
Tuesday, September 28, 7-8 PM
Genealogy enthusiasts are invited to this special program to mark the beginning of our new Genealogy Group! Doing family history is more than collecting names and dates. Most of us want to "get to know" our ancestors as much as possible and to understand their lives. How we make a living is an important part of who we are and why we do things. Through the use of case studies, this talk will explain methods for discovering more details about our ancestors’ occupations. Even if we can't find specifics such as employment records, there are other ways to gain a better picture of how our ancestors lived and worked.
The program will be presented by Newberry Library Research Librarian Ginger Frere.
Our Genealogy Group will meet at 7:00PM on the 4th Tuesday of each month. The next meeting date is October 26.

Tuesday, September 14, 7:00-8:00 PM
Your home may be your biggest asset, but your ability to work and earn an income is your most valuable asset. Esses, CFP, Investment Advisor Representative, of the Principal Financial Group will present a step by step guide to disability. Find out what you should do if you become too sick or hurt to work, what would happen to your income, and how you would maintain your lifestyle and pay your bills. Learn what you should look for in a disability policy; the language in the contract is critical to obtaining the exact coverage you need. If you have a small business, there are some important things you must know about disability insurance, and how you can protect yourself and your business.
