Book Discussions meet at 1 PM and 7:30 PM on the third Thursday of each month,
September - May, (excluding December).
Books are available after you sign up for your session at the Circulation Desk.

Local author, award-winning, nationally published journalist and noted speaker (WGN-TV/Radio, Chicago Public Radio, History Channel), Daniel P. Smith guides readers into the closed-door society that is the Chicago Police Department in his compelling debut work, “On the Job: Behind the Stars of the Chicago Police Department. Sharing never-before-told stories of the tolls the job exacts on the officers and their lives while interweaving a discussion of Chicago’s criminal landscape, police department culture, and history, Smith discusses the personal experiences that led him to pen “On the Job” and the unique perspective he was able to achieve given his background. Includes a question and answer session. Copies of “On the Job will be available for the discounted price of $15. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library.

Thousands of books, and other items will be for sale.

Bags will be provided.

Don't forget to check out the Friends' continuous book sale in the southwest corner of the Library. 

VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY!

We will be setting up for the Friends Semi-Annual Used Book Sale in the library auditorium
the week before the sale.

Volunteers are welcome and greatly appreciated any time during these hours, and for any length of time available! Volunteers may purchase books during set-up for $5.00 per bag.

WELCOME!

Stop reading for a moment and go look at your newsletter label; it notes when your membership expires. If you find that your membership has expired, or is close to expiring, please take a minute the next time you're at Helen M. Plum Memorial Library and fill out the renewal form. Membership is still a bargain - $5.00 for an individual and only $10.00 for an entire family membership!

Remember, your membership entitles you to $1.00 off your first bag of books at the Semi-Annual Book Sale that will be held in September. We hope to see you there.

The "Friends of the Library" is a group of concerned people who are
interested in the expansion of library services to the community.

Organized in 1929, their financial assistance through the years has enabled the
Library to add many volumes and services that would not otherwise have been
possible.

To join, please ask for a membership form at the Circulation Desk, or complete the form below and mail it to the Friends of Plum Library, 110 West Maple Street, Lombard, 60148.

Individual membership in Friends is $5 per year;

Family membership is $10. Please make your check payable to "Friends of Helen Plum Library."
