First Church of Lombard (United Church of Christ)
Corner of Main and Maple Streets

You can see it for miles around! This famous Lombard landmark was built in 1870, probably by Joseph Gregory.  The church has a tall pointed steeple and high arched windows.  It is supposed to look like the old churches in Europe.  First Church is a   very important building to the people of Lombard.  The church bell was Lombard's fire alarm until 1910.

The first library in Lombard was in the church basement.  Josiah Reade brought books from his personal collection to a room where people would come to borrow them.
