Lombard Historical Society Museum
23 W. Maple Street

Does your mom or dad ride the train to work? Newell Matson, a jewelry buyer in Chicago, wanted to live in Lombard.  He built this house in 1882 as close to the train station as he could.  The house is a "Cottage Style" house.  This design
was very popular in the 1870's and 1880's.

Now Mr. Matson's home is owned by the Lombard Historical Society.    The Society made the house into a museum.   The rooms are decorated as they would have been 100 years ago.  You can visit the museum on Wednesdays and
Sundays from 1 to 4 p.m.
